Effie Spring Smith (1907-1974)
Born in Suffolk, Effie Spring Smith studied at the Ipswich School of Art and entered the Slade School of Art in 1925. She went on to live in London and finally Kent. She painted throughout her life and exhibited widely, e.g. at the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, the Royal Academy, New English Art Club and the Society of Women Painters among others.
